MORE 80s Weekend
More 104.1 is a local adult-complementary radio station in Des Moines. One of their popular promotions is their 80s themed music weekends.
For this project, I was allowed to embrace my inner "valley girl" and go "totally radical!" I played with a variety of trends and designs from that era to evoke the right feel. It was also an opportunity to brush up on Photoshop techniques to create custom images that fit the new logo.
THE WALKING FED
The local rock station, LAZER 103.3, holds an annual zombie themed food drive for the Food Bank of Iowa. This event is hosted in the spring when donations are at their lowest, so the name was inspired by the season finale of the popular TV series that corresponds with this drive.
For my inspiration, I looked to one of the most iconic symbols in horror history: the undead hand rising from the grave. However to make it a helping hand representing the food drive, it offers an apple instead. The main event involved zombified volunteers asking for donations on street corners, so I wanted to create a bold but simple graphic that could be seen and recognized from a distance.
The inaugural year raised over 24,000 meals for the Food Bank, and every year since has continued to bring in larger donations.
