Friendly but skittish around people, so she may run if approached. She enjoys tuna and wet food, and may be lured with that.

She was a stray as kitten, so she knows how to survive outside.

What Happened?

The morning of Sept. 11, Merlot and I were behind my apartment complex. I had been working on harness training Merlot and felt comfortable enough to finally let her explore behind my complex.

Things started at normal. She was sniffing the grass and looking around. But a curious neighbor wanted to say hello. She walked from her patio behind us and yelled hello. This spooked Merlot. She reacted in away I've never seen her react before.

Within 5 seconds, she dug her back paws into the dirt and pulled out of her harness by pulling backwards. Before I could grab her, she took off to the wooded area behind my complex.

My instincts kicked in and I ran right after her. But I was not aware of the terrain of the woods. I tripped and fell down a slope, and that was the last time I saw her.
